Special Olympics Australia launches Easy Read Rules for Athletes

  • Members News

Special Olympics Australia has released its new Easy Read Rules for Athletes, an accessible resource designed to help athletes better understand the expectations that support safe, welcoming and inclusive sporting environments.

The resource brings together the standards outlined in Special Olympics Australia’s Code of Conduct and National Integrity Framework in an easy-to-read format. It covers athlete behaviour across training, competitions, travel, social events and online engagement, promoting respect, inclusion, safety and fair play.

Developed in partnership with athletes, the Easy Read Rules were co-designed to ensure the content is practical, meaningful and accessible for the people who will use it. The resource reflects Special Olympics Australia’s ongoing commitment to making sport more inclusive and empowering athletes to participate with confidence.

ASAPD encourages all sporting organisations, coaches, officials, volunteers, athletes and families to explore the new resource and share it across their networks to help foster safe, welcoming and inclusive sporting environments.

Read the original announcement and access the Easy Read Rules for Athletes on the Special Olympics Australia website.
