Sport Australia – Inclusive Sport Resource

Sport Australia believes that every Australian should be able to participate in sport and physical activity in a welcoming and inclusive way – regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, cultural background, ethnicity, location or life stage.

This resource aims to create positive, inclusive experiences for everyone who wants to participate.

Deaf Sports Australia aim to build and strengthen participation opportunities for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Active Deaf Program

Active Deaf Kids is a sport initiative that was established in 2011. Delivered by Deaf Sports Australia, this program includes working with deaf and hard of hearing children in all sports. Schools across Australia apply for Active Deaf Kids Program through the Sporting School online application.

The Active Deaf Sports Club is another sport initiative delivered by Deaf Sports Australia. The aim is to provide mainstream sports organisations the opportunity to integrate inclusion practises for their deaf and hard of hearing sports participants.

The Active Deaf High-Performance program includes pathways where deaf and hard of hearing individuals are identified, recruited and offered further training opportunities through other programs or events, because of potential talent.

Paralympics Australia Community Programs

The Australian Paralympic Education Program is providing free curriculum-linked resources for Australian school students along with ideas to support the Australian Paralympic Team at the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games.

The IPC Classification Fundamentals Online Course is a free, self-paced introduction to classification in para-sport, suitable for teachers, students, athletes, and support staff.

Special Olympics Australia Inclusive Sport in Schools

The Inclusive Sport in Schools program improves the health and wellbeing outcomes of students with an intellectual disability and autism through the delivery of inclusive sport and physical activity in a school setting.

Sport Inclusion Australia has an extensive list of resources, to provide information about inclusion in sport for teachers. These will give you some great ideas and strategies for sport or physical activity.
