Woorim Beach upgrade supports more accessible recreation

New accessible facilities at Woorim Beach in Queensland’s Moreton Bay are helping people with disability enjoy the coast with greater comfort and confidence.
As reported by Link magazine, the $3.8 million upgrade at Bluey and Jean Piva Park includes a Changing Places facility for people with high support needs, accessible showers, change rooms and toilets. Visitors can also access two beach wheelchairs and a beach wheely walker free of charge through self-service lockers.
Together with existing beach mats, these facilities help reduce barriers to beach access and support more inclusive outdoor recreation for people with disability, their families and carers.
The project highlights the value of investing in accessible public spaces to create more opportunities for community participation.
